While I had never before had a transaction so far from Santa Monica, the seller was a childhood friend of mine, and I wanted to help her as best I could. She did an extraordinary job making sure that she would get top dollar: had a great landscaper, painted the exterior, spruced up the interior, gave it a thorough cleaning before the open house... It looked great, and she was clearly very proud of her first home. It sold with multiple offers, pushing the price well beyond my friend's expectations. She took the proceeds from this sale and bought an enormous dream home in suburban Seattle. We still owe her a visit, as neither my wife nor I has been to that part of the country.
